A new barbecue place is coming soon to Macon.
Uncle Thad’s BBQ is going to open next month in the old Hawg Father’s BBQ restaurant. Don’t go into the building expecting the same old restaurant, however. Owners Sheri Fox and her brother-in-law, Thad Davis, are making many changes to the inside of the building.
What you will still find is good, home cooking. Davis has loved to barbecue for years. He and Fox have been wanting to open a BBQ restaurant for a long time. They will offer barbecue, tenderloins, fish, desserts, and a bar.
Davis and his wife have lived in the Macon area for 12 years. They are the owners of Thompson Snares. Fox has lived the past 28 years in St. Louis working in the information technology field.
“[Our family] all loves the area and community. We really just want to be a good, family restaurant for the community. We want to be part of the community and help Macon grow,” Fox said.
The reason behind the name? Fox has a 23-year-old son who has always said he can only eat “Uncle Thad’s barbecue.”
They also bought Thieman’s Flower Shop and plan to run it as well.
