Total Family Health Care is set to open its expansion in the first part of November. Bernie Orman announced this at the Samaritan Hospital board meeting on September 29. He said that 75% of the electrical and 90% of HVAC work are complete, and that most cabinetry will be in place by the end of this week in the expansion.
Orman noted that the hospital paid a fifth payment application of $76,592.06 for the Total Family expansion, bringing the total paid to date of $529,452.76, and a remaining balance of $250,603.24.
Samaritan Hospital is above both the current budget and the prior year for the month of August. Nursing, respiratory, radiology and surgery services accounted for the $31,000 that the hospital is ahead of budget.
In other business, the board:

  • Accepted the only demolition bid received for the property at 1003 N Rutherford. Holman Construction was the single bidder with a bid of $7,000.
  • Approved a proposal for a six month sports physician position. This new person will work in conjunction with Dr. Main, so that Dr. Main can focus on surgeries and the new doctor can screen and refer patients to surgery. The physician’s name is not yet released as salary is under negotiation.
  • Learned the hospital is implementing new processes and systems for coding procedures (so that they’re more specific).
