Demolition began Tuesday morning around 10 am in Macon’s downtown on Vine Street. The building with the faulty roof and wall that we showed you last week has now bit the dust. Originally the demolition was slated for 8 am but was delayed due to insurance questions and inspections. Once the crews were given the green light, the first building was taken in out about half an hour. There was then another delay before the second building was removed, as the demolition crew discussed the best method of removing it without collateral damage. They had to make sure that they could take out the building without causing harm to the one next to it. After careful consideration, they were able to remove it without causing any harm.
